探索极低折射率介质中的电磁波传播特性与光与物质相互作用

背景简介

近零折射率(NZI)光子学致力于研究有效介电常数、磁导率或两者同时趋近于零的特殊材料。在这些奇特的介质中,光的相速度趋于无穷大,导致电磁场的空间与时间变化发生解耦。因此,电磁波的空间相位在宏观距离内能够保持均匀一致,这从根本上改变了光的传播方式以及光与物质的相互作用机制。

本研究方向横跨基础电磁学与先进材料科学。通过消除光的空间相位累积,近零折射率介质为探索极端光学机制以及在传统介质或金属环境中无法观测到的新型波动现象提供了可能。

研究意义与潜在应用

利用近零折射率机制能够实现对电磁场前所未有的控制能力,为波前调控和量子过程增强提供了多功能平台。其潜在应用具有颠覆性意义,涵盖与形状无关的光学隧道效应、高效率非线性光学频率变换、大面积单模相干辐射源,以及用于先进计算与远程通信的超紧凑光学逻辑元件。

我们也致力于发展和引进交叉与跨(多)学科的新方法和新技术 (Wu et al., 2021; Wang et al., 2021; Huang et al., 2022) ,同时进行着理论、仿真与实验研究 (Wu et al., 2021; Wu et al., 2020; Wu* et al., 2024; Wu* et al., 2025)
